Lot Description

An early twentieth century silver mug of slightly tapering form to a glass base, presentation engraving to one side, hallmarked Atkin Brothers, Sheffield 1916, height measuring 5 inches (12.7 cm). Together with a later silver mug, also of tapering form with a ribbed foot rim and personal engraving, hallmarked Walker & Hall, Sheffield 1944, height measuring 5 3/8 inches (13.7 cm). Gross weight inclusive of glass 25 ozt (778.4 grams). (2).

Both display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. General dints and bumps to both, also some heavier scratches and marks. The later mug displays various little nicks or gouges in the metal, to the main body and around the rim. The rim is also a little misshapen. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
