Lot 267

Lot Description

A pair of 1940's silver candlesticks, each of lobed outline with curved and filled base rising to a tapered stem and vase shape socket with removable nozzle. Hallmarked Birmingham 1940 with maker's mark 'G T'. Height measures 8 1/4 inches (21 cm).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Both candlesticks display some general wear, surface scratches, marks and tarnishing. Floods of solder visible around the joins of the stems to the bases indicating repairs. This is definitely the case on one of the stems as it now leans slightly to one side. Further small dints and bumps and heavier wear around rims and edges with some small holes/splits in the metal starting to appear around the base rim. Part of the base covering to one is missing. The hallmarks and maker's marks appear a little rubbed but still legible. Clear part hallmarks to nozzles.
