Lot Description
A 1920's silver inkwell of capstan form, the hinged and slightly domed cover with reeded border (missing glass liner), hallmarked London 1920. Together with two late Victorian silver mounted glass vanity jars, hallmarked Thomas Ingleton, London 1894 and Drew & Sons (Samuel Summers Drew & Ernest Drew), London 1897, and a Edwardian miniature silver twin-handled cup of classic Georgian style, hallmarked James Dixon & Sons Ltd, Sheffield 1907, height 4 1/2 inches (11 cm). Condition Report
Noticeable wear and tear to the inkwell. The lot displays general scratches, marks wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Lid appears a little twisted. A solder repair to the hinge, the underside join is split. Interior deteriorated. Rexine base torn to edge and pulling away. The hallmarks appear rubbed but legible. No maker's mark visible, no part hallmarks to lid. No glass liner. Of the jars the first example has considerable damage to the glass near the top with cracks, breaks and minor losses. Each jar displaying general light marks and scratches commensurate with use. Silver covers each in good to fair condition, displaying some minor dints. Hallmarks clear displaying minor rubbing. The twin-handled cup is in good overall condition, the lot displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with age and use. No personal engravings.
