A George II open silver salt, of cauldron form having flared and lobed rim, raised upon three shell moulded and hoof feet with engraved initials beneath, hallmarked IW, London 1756, diameter measures 2 6/8 inches (7 cm). Together with another similar pair of George III open salts, London 1795. Gross weight 6.37 ozt (198 grams).

Liners are missing to all examples. All displaying heavy wear and tarnishing with dirt and marks to interior. All with surface scratches, marks and bumps and dints to bodies. Hallmarks appear very rubbed and worn, some partly distorted.
