Lot Description

An American sterling silver pepper grinder, the cylindrical form with reeded borders and ivory terminal to the metal handle. Pictorial maker's mark for Gorham, also impressed 'sterling' with the pattern number A 4608. Maximum height excluding handle measures 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm).

The grinder displays some general wear, surface scratches, marks and tarnishing in keeping with the age and use. Some minor dints and knocks around the foot rim. Rust is visible to the metal part of the handle and dirt and cracks to the ivory. The mechanism appears in working order. The maker's marks are clear and legible.
