Lot 493

Lot Description

An early twentieth century Dutch export caddy, the elliptical form having decorative borders enclosing figurative, animal and landscape scenes, the similarly decorated hinged lid with concave top. Dutch assay marks of Minerva and the rampant lion and key export mark, also import marks for Berthold Muller, London 1905. Maximum height measures 3 1/2 inches (9 cm), weight 3.42 ozt (106.6 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The caddy displays some general wear, surface scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some slight flattening and loss of detail to raised decoration but it is generally still good. Some knocks to the foot rim. Hinged lid appears in good working order. Areas of green residue and some heavier staining/dirt to the interior so it would benefit from a clean and polish. The hallmarks are mainly clear and legible.
