Lot 57

Lot Description

A mid-eighteenth century Channel Islands silver brandy pan, of tapering circular form with engraved family crest and motto to one side above a moulded foot rim, and having a wooden handle of slender baluster shape. Maker’s mark for Henry Guillaume (Guernsey 1720-1767), also marked with a shell and letter R. Length measures 6 ¾ inches (17 cm).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The pan displays some general wear, surface marks, scratches and tarnishing in keeping with the age and use. Some edge nicks and some quite heavy pitting marks, especially visible to the interior and underside. Some rubbing to engraved crest and it has lost a little of the surface detail. The wood handle is a little loose and the fixing pin is sticking out on one side. Some rubbing and distortion to hallmarks but they are still legible.
