Lot Description

A George III silver swing handle sugar basket, the octagonal sided pedestal form having twin opposed vacant panels within a stipple engraved and punched border, with similar decoration to rim and handle and reeded detail to foot. Hallmarked Samuel Deakin & Co., Sheffield 1793. Maximum height measures 5 inches (12.7 cm), weight 9.79 ozt (304.6 grams).

The basket appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general wear and tarnishing. There are general surface scratches and marks and some minor nicks. A couple of minor dints. Interior was likely once gilded but this is now faded. Hallmarked to the foot rim and they are clear and legible.
