Lot Description

A William IV silver caddy spoon, in King's pattern with shell bowl, hallmarked Newcastle 1837 with maker's mark IW and tentatively attributed to either John Walton or John Wright, length measuring 3 1/2 inches (9 cm). Together with a selection of novelty items to include seven Victorian and later vesta cases, a novelty pig vesta case, a stamp case, a coin purse, a silver cased retractable pencil and assorted thimbles, some pieces appear unmarked. Gross weight of hallmarked items 213.6 grams.

The caddy spoon displays some general wear, surface scratches, marks and tarnishing in keeping with the age and use. There are a couple of dints and two or three splits around the rim of the bowl. The hallmarks are clear and legible. The other items are in mixed condition with general wear, tarnishing and some dints and bumps. The stamp case does not close properly and the part of the clasp of the purse is missing.
