Lot 784

Lot Description

An early twentieth century silver double vesta case, the slightly curved oblong form with engraved monogram and opening to twin compartments, hallmarked William Henry Sparrow, Birmingham 1919. Together with a late Victorian combination vesta and sovereign case, hallmarked Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings (Frank) Shepherd, Birmingham 1899. Gross weight 91 grams. (2).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Both cases appear in a fairly worn state, displaying many surface scratches, nicks and marks, also several small dints, especially to the combination vesta and sovereign case. Tarnishing to both and they would benefit from a clean and polish. The hinge and clasp on the double vesta appear in good working order. The clasp is no longer working on the hinged lid of the combination vesta as it does not stay closed. The push release button on the sovereign end appears in working order. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
