Lot Description

A late Victorian silver vesta case, engraved throughout with leaf patterns surrounding a vacant cartouche, hallmarked Minshull & Latimer, Birmingham 1899. Together with a further Victorian vesta case with foliate scroll engraving, hallmarked Joseph Gloster Birmingham, same date, a hammered example, hallmarked A & J Zimmerman Ltd., Birmingham 1900 and a smaller Edwardian vesta case, also decorated with leaf patterns and hallmarked Mitchell Bosley & Co., Birmingham 1902. Gross weight 88 grams. (4).

In fair to good overall condition, all the cases displaying some general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with their age and use. Heavier wear and marks visible to the hammered case with numerous deeper scratches and nicks. All hinges appear in working order, however the lid of the hammered case does not close completely flush. The hallmarks are mostly clear and legible.
