Lot Description
A pair of George III silver entree dish covers with later matched bases, of octagonal sided form with gadroon borders, the covers each having an engraved family crest and a reeded loop handle with foliate detail. Covers hallmarked John Wakelin & Robert Garrard 1800, assumed London, the bases hallmarked C J Vander (Henry & Arthur Vander), London 1930. Maximum length measures 12 1/4 inches (31 cm), weight 91.25 ozt (2838 grams).

Condition Report
Both dishes display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some dints and bumps. Heavier contact marks and scratches visible to many areas, especially the undersides and interiors of bases. The lids do not sit flush to the bases. The hallmarks to all parts are clear and legible, however the maker's marks on both covers are partly worn and distorted.
