Lot Description
A late 19th century silver and gold, tourmaline and diamond brooch. The cushion-shape pinkish-red tourmaline collet, within an old and rose-cut diamond scrolling foliate surround. Estimated total diamond weight 0.90ct. Principal diamond estimated I-J colour, P1 clarity. Length 3.5cms. Weight 9.5gms.

<li>Overall condition fair to good. Surface scratches in keeping with general age and wear.
<li>Localised scratches and discolouration to the sides of the mount.
<li>There is a hairline crack to the back of the mount, at the bottom by the central diamond.
<li>The tourmaline is well saturated, with light surface scratches and moderate abrasion to the facet edges.
<li>Cut and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents total carat weight estimation.
<li>Individual size and setting of smaller diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.
<li>The diamonds are fairly bright.
