Lot Description

A 1930's silver sauce boat of typical bellied form having a shaped rim and raised on three stylised paw feet, personal engraving to one side, hallmarked Viner's Ltd., Sheffield 1931. Together with a further 1930's sauce boat with gadroon rim, hallmarked Birmingham 1932, and a later example with foliate capped flying scroll handle and three hoof feet, hallmarked Birmingham 1975. Gross weight 20.77 ozt (646 grams). (3).

All three sauce boats display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Minor dints and bumps. Heavier scratches and nicks to some areas. The 1932 sauce boat has a tear in the metal of the lower handle and further splits along the seam line. Some of the hallmarks and maker's marks appear rubbed but all are still legible.
