An Art Nouveau silver mounted photograph frame, of wavy square outline pierced with sunflowers and foliage enclosing a circular aperture, hallmarked F J Hall, Birmingham 1907, maximum height measures 7 4/8 inches (19 cm). Together with a late Victorian silver mounted photograph frame, having a shaped vacant cartouche above cherubs, scrollwork and foliate mask enclosing a heart-shaped aperture, hallmarked William Comyns & Sons, London 1899, maximum height measures 7 6/8 inches (19.75 cm). Condition Report
The Art Nouveau example displays heavy tarnishing and wear to silver mount with rubbing throughout and multiple small dints surrounding central aperture, lining is worn thin and easel support verso is missing. The Victorian example has several small splits and holes to raised areas of silver mount, lining is heavily worn and some tears verso, easel support is detached from hinge but present. Hallmarks to each are legible although maker's mark to first and date letter to second are partly worn or distorted.
