Lot Description

A George IV silver bachelor teapot of compressed and fluted globular form to a footed base, having a stained wood handle and finial to the hinged lid. Hallmarked London 1822, maker possibly James Henry Daniel. Maximum length measures 8 inches (20.3 cm), gross weight 9.25 ozt (287.7 grams).

The teapot displays some general wear, surface scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some minor dints and bumps. Heavier tarnishing to some areas and heavy staining to interior. Hinged lid appears in good working order. The staining on the handle and finial has nearly completely worn away. The hallmarks are located to the underside and are clear and legible, further clear part hallmarks to lid.
