Lot Description

A nineteenth century Russian silver spoon, the ovoid shape bowl with niello decoration to reverse depicting domed buildings, the stem with spiral decoration leading to a bulbous finial. Russian assay marks, some partly distorted. Length measuring 7 1/8 inches (18 cm), weight 2.14 ozt (66.6 grams).

The spoon displays some general wear, surface marks and scratches in keeping with the age and use. Areas of the niello decoration are very worn and rubbed with some losses. Small hole to the top of the finial. Assay marks are partly worn and distorted.
