A turn of the century tortoiseshell mounted notebook or card case inlaid with oval cartouche and surround, opening to a compartmentalised material inner, height measuring 10.5 cm. Together with a mother-of-pearl cased dance card or note pad, the front case florally engraved, height measuring 9.5 cm. (2).

The lot displays general scratches, marks wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The tortoiseshell shell with scuffs and marks, the interior worn and torn with the pencil holder also torn off. Mother-of-pearl with minor nibbles and chips, velvet spine and interior worn, notepaper is a later placement.
