Lot Description

A Victorian silver vinaigrette, the shaped oval form decorated with stylised foliate borders and opening to reveal a scroll pierced grille, with a suspension ring. Hallmarked Hilliard & Thomason, Birmingham 1881. Maximum length 3.3 cm, gross weight 16.1 grams.

The vinaigrette displays some general wear, surface scratches and marks commensurate with age and general use. There is also some general tarnishing, which is heavier to the interior. Residues of polish. Hinged lids appear in working order, however the main lid does not close properly leaving a gap. The hallmarks are clear and legible, also clear part hallmarks to base and grille.
