Lot Description
An early Victorian silver vinaigrette, the shaped rectangular form with scroll edge and further engraved throughout with scrolling foliage, the hinged lid having a central vacant cartouche and opening to a foliate pierced grille and sponge. Hallmarked Edward Smith, Birmingham 1849. Measuring 2.8 cm by 2.1 cm, gross weight 10.3 grams.

Condition Report
The vinaigrette appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general wear, surface scratches, marks and nicks. Also some tarnishing. Hinges appear in good working order. Some heavier tarnishing and staining to interior and reverse of grille. The hallmarks are a little rubbed but still clearly legible. Reverse of grille struck with monarch head.
