An early Victorian silver vinaigrette, the oblong form with scalloped edge, the base engraved with a view of Gloucester Cathedral, and the hinged cover opening to a silver-gilt interior with scroll pierced grille. Hallmarked Edward Smith, Birmingham 1846. Length measuring 3.5 cm, weight 18 grams.

The lot displays general scratches, marks wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The hallmarks are clear and legible. Hinges in good working order. Lid slightly rises to one side when closed. Gilding bright.
