Lot 56

Lot Description

A pair of late Victorian silver candlesticks in Neo-Classical style, each with filled square base having ram's head and swag decoration, rising to a cylindrical column further decorated with husk motifs and a Corinthian capital with beaded rim to the removal nozzle. Hallmarked William Hutton & Sons Ltd., London 1895. Height measures 5 7/8 inches (15 cm).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Both candlesticks appear in quite a tarnished state and would benefit from a clean and polish. They display general wear and surface marks and scratches. Also various small dints and bumps, especially visible around the base rim. Also splits at some corners. Slight knocks to capitals and nozzles so that there are some gaps when nozzles are in place. One of the nozzles has a large split to the column. Some rubbing and distortion but hallmarks mostly clear and legible. Nozzles also with full hallmarks.
