Lot Description
A late Georgian gold enamel and split pearl mourning brooch. Of marquise-shape outline, the sepia panel of a scantily clad female within a garden, plucking at an enamel and wirework raised basket of flowers on a similarly wirework and seed pearl column, within blue enamel and split pearl surrounds. Length 4.5cms. Weight 12.5gms.

<li>Overall condition fair. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
<li>Converted with later brooch fittings.
<li>Loss to the top of the column.
<li>Some seed pearls and some of the wirework loose, possibly deficient.
<li>The flower the woman is holding appears mostly deficient.
<li>The woman is semi-nude with one breast showing.
<li>Dirt to the inside of the glass.
<li>Small cracks and/or staining to the panel at her foot.
<li>Enamel with minor surface abrasion.
<li>Split pearls well matched with minor wear.
