A mid Victorian garnet and split pearl brooch, circa 1870. The split pearl star, atop a garnet scalloped surround and cannetille border, to the floral engraved scrolling panel, suspending a graduated fringe and two tassels. Personal inscription to the reverse dated 1872. Length 9.3cms. Weight 26.9gms.

<li>Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
<li>Some localised minor discolouration.
<li>Fringe with possible minor repair work.
<li>Split pearl with white body coloir and good lusyre, possible replacement.
<li>Garnets a medium purplish-red, good saturation and clarity
<li>One garnet possible replacement.
<li>Stones in good condition with minor abrasions.<p>
<li>Personal inscription to the reverse, 'FROM MRS ROBERTSON TO MAGGIE MCLAGHLAN 1872.'
