A late 19th century gem-set brooch. Designed as a fly with a split pearl and sapphire body, red-gem eyes and rose-cut diamond wings, to the similarly-cut diamond foliate sides and cultured pearl terminals. Length 5.4cms. Weight 6.6gms.

<li>Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.
<li>Some replacement stones.
<li>Cut and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents total carat weight estimation.
<li>Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.<p>
<li>Sapphire dark blue, well saturated.<p>
<li>Stones in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.<p>
<li>Cultured pearls have a cream body colour, pink overtones and fairly good lustre.
<li>Split pearl with a greyish body colour and good lustre, untested for natural origin.
