A fine pair of Japanese Meiji period ivory and lacquer figures modelled as geisha or bijin. The first standing, with right arm raised holding a fan, 11.5", (30.5cm) high, the second in kneeling pose with left arm outstretched, 8" (20cm), both dressed in kimono with gilt takamaki-e and inlaid abalone detail, each signed (see detail) within red tsuishu seal to base. (2).

The first figure - loss to left side of hair, small loss to edge of fan, fan loose in right hand and glue residue to hand.
The second figure - possibly missing fan or other object from left hand, also has glue residue to hand.
