A late medieval gold amatory ring, circa 1400 to 1500. Engraved with a series of crossed heart motifs, the script spacers spelling out i e a d o r e ('Je adore'). The amatory inscription suggests this may have been a marriage ring. An amatory ring is a variation on the more commonly known posy (or posey) ring.
