Lot Description

An Edwardian silver cased napkin ring of plain form with enamelled arms for the University of Oxford and engraved monogram, hallmarked Birmingham 1911, maker's mark J?B probably John William Barnet, plus two further plain rimmed examples with engraved monograms, hallmarked Birmingham 1906 and London 1916. Together with a cased set of six silver handled tea knives, each with raised Albany pattern and steel blade, hallmarked Harrison Brothers & Howson (George Howson), Sheffield 1914. Gross weighable silver 2.4 ozt (75.82 grams), maximum length of knife 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm). (4)

In good overall condition. The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Edwardian napkin ring engraved with 'M.E.M', some slight scratches, enamel in very good condition. Other two examples engraved with 'M.E.M' and 'D.H.O', some minor dints and bumps to the rim and body. Maker's mark partly worn on all three, remaining hallmarks are legible. Knives have some minor scratches to the steel blades, remnants of polish visible. Fitted case sits flush and locks, worn to the edges and base.
