Lot Description
A late Victorian cased set of twelve silver teaspoons with sugar tongs, each with Celtic style interwoven knots and stippled engraved decoration to the stem and monogrammed terminals, hallmarked London 1882, maker's mark H J L J W, probably Henry John Lias & James Wakely, retailed by Hamilton Crichton & Coy. Gross weight 5.92 ozt (184.2 grams).

Condition Report
In good overall condition. The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some minor tarnishing and scratches to the interior and exterior of the bowls. The fitted case bears the retail name of 'Hamilton Crichton & Coy, Goldsmiths, Silversmiths & Diamond Merchants 47 George St, Edinburgh'. There is a split along the top of the case, with significant wear to the material. The hinges and clasp in working order but difficult to open. The maker's mark is not consistently legible across the set, with each suffering from rubbing in different areas of the hallmark. Some rubbing to the other hallmarks but still legible.
