Lot Description

A selection of Victorian and later silver tea or coffee spoons to include a set of six teaspoons with oblique decoration to stems, hallmarked L Spiers, Birmingham 1891, four apostle top spoons with spiral twist stems, Henry Wigfull, Sheffield 1895, four Hanoverian style spoons with long rattail and crested to reverse, Walker & Hall, Sheffield 1900, five spoons with tapering stems, Sheffield 1929 and 1930 and a set of five continental examples with blue enamel decoration and marked 925. Together with a George III Fiddle pattern tablespoon, hallmarked Exeter 1819, a William IV Fiddle pattern teaspoon, London 1834, an Edwardian coffee spoon, a 1920's christening spoon and a souvenir spoon marked sterling. Gross weight 12.78 ozt (397.4 grams).

The majority of the spoons appear in fair to good condition displaying some general wear, surface marks, scratches and tarnishing. Areas of damage and losses to the blue enamel on the continental spoons. The Exeter spoon is in very poor condition, it is almost black in appearance with several dints and part of the bowl has either worn away or been cut down. Hallmarks are mostly clear and legible.
