Lot Description

A pair of George IV Irish silver Fiddle pattern sugar tongs, with engraved initials and monogram, hallmarked Dublin 1824, maker's mark possibly Charles Marsh, maximum length measures 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm). Together with a pair of Scottish silver sugar tongs of plain form, hallmarked with the thistle and monarch's head for George III, maker's mark I Z probably John Zeigler, maximum length measures 5 5/8 inches (14.5 cm), plus a pair of silver knife rests hallmarked Chester 1904 and a silver knife and fork with mother-of-pearl handles hallmarked Sheffield 1902. Gross weighable silver 4.94 ozt (153.5 grams). (4)

In good overall condition. The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The Irish tongs engraved with 'C' initials to each outer stem, with some remnants of sticker and engraved monogram to arch. Maker's mark heavily worn possibly Charles Marsh, all other hallmarks clear and legible. Scottish example have a slight bend to one stem, hallmarked with the thistle, monarch's head and maker's mark I Z probably John Zeigler, no date letter present. Hallmarks rubbed to the joins on the knife and fork, but clear and legible to the blade and prong. Hallmarks clear and legible on the knife rests.  This item may have export issues, for customers outside of the EU, please note that it is the buyers responsibility to adhere to any import/export requirements.
