Lot Description
A small retractable pencil, the gold coloured body decorated with blue enamel diagonal stripes and impressed with the letter 'M', possibly Sampson Mordan, length measuring 4.5 cm, tests as 9ct gold. Together with two miniature trowels, one having an agate handle, lengths measuring 9 cm and 6 cm. (3).

Condition Report
All three pieces display some general wear, tarnishing, surface marks and scratches. The gold coloured pencil appears to have something broken off the end. The pencil lead can be propelled slightly by turning the main body but may not be working correctly. There is a hole through the end of the handle on the smallest trowel. This example has some heavier tarnishing.
