Lot Description

A 1920's novelty silver bonbon dish modelled as a garden trug/basket of oblong panelled form with fixed loop handle on square arched feet, hallmarked James Dixon & Sons Ltd., Sheffield 1929, registered number 545848, also numbered Z1816.S.S. Together with a pair of silver sugar tongs, hallmarked James Dixon & Sons Ltd., Sheffield, 1930. Maximum length of trug/basket 11.5cm (4 1/2 inches), weight inclusive of tongs 1.75 ozt (54.43 grams). (2).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Compression visible to the interior from one foot pressed into the body underneath. Loss of definition and some heavier tarnishing the underside of the handle and around the interior and exterior edges and either side of the feet.  The tongs are slightly bent towards the bowl, some minor marks to outside. All hallmarks are clear and legible.
