An Edwardian silver cigarette case, of slightly curved oblong form, with engine-turned exterior and engraved monogram to the central circular cartouche, opening to reveal a gilt interior, hallmarked Henry Matthews, Birmingham 1908, maximum width measures 3 1/4 inches (8.5 cm). Together with two 1930's examples, both engine-turned with vacant corner cartouche, one with canted corners, hallmarked Birmingham 1930 and 1939. Gross weight 10.39 ozt (323.1 grams). (3).

Condition Report
In good overall condition. The lot displays surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The Edwardian example is engraved with 'H M'. Some minor dents to the exterior causing slight distortion to the shape. Tobacco residue evident inside along hinge. Partial date mark rubbed, all other hallmarks clear and legible. Some minor dints and bumps to the two 1930's examples, remnants of polish visible, hallmarks clear and legible. All hinges sit flush and clasps shut securely.
