Lot 512

Lot Description

A cased Victorian silver card case, the oblong form with intertwining foliate decoration surrounding a vacant shield cartouche, further engraved borders and scalloped edge, in fitted case. Hallmarked George Unite & Sons, London 1860. Height measuring 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm), weight 1.9 ozt (59.5 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The card case appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general surface wear, tarnishing, surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. There are some minor surface dints/bumps and slight compression to the centre. The decoration is generally still good. The hinge wobbles a little and the fixing pin does move in and out, however it still appears in good working order. It is quite a tight fit to shut and there are contact marks to the flange, but it does close properly. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
