Lot Description

A late 19th century Carrara marble bust of a lady, with signature A H Carrier/ Garrier, in the manner of Albert Ernest Carrier Belleuse, with provenance, 19.5" (49.5cm) high overall.  
Provenance: sold with a copy of Country Life magazine, Collectors' Number, June 8th 1972, where illustrated on page 1438 with a discussion regarding the signature. An accompanying letter recalls that the bust was purchased by the father of the current owner, from McClelland Galleries in Belfast in 1971, where sold as being from a Hillsborough Castle dispersal sale circa 1924.
