A good painted oval portrait miniature, attributed to Samuel Shelley, (1750-1808), depicting head and shoulder portrait of HRH the Princess Sophia, within oval brass frame, under glass, inscription to frame reads 'Portrait of the Princess Sophia of Gloucester by S Shelley.', hand written inscription to verso, 1.5" x 1.75" (4cm x 4.5cm).

Fair condition given apparent age.
Frame with some wear, including scratches, marks, etc. Glass scratched.
Inscription to verso reads 'painted by Shelly in 1781 [...]' however please note that there is no provenance to confirm this.
Inscription worn, parts faded, torn and indistinct.
Please note miniatures have not been examined out of frames and glass.
