Lot Description

An unusual carved oak coffer. Probably early 17th century, the hinged four-panel top with rounded front corners, enclosing a lead-lined interior, over a frieze carved with quatrefoils, the panelled front with incised pilasters (perhaps previously supporting arches), and incised initials S P, flanked by reeded stiles, 58" x 25" x 28" high, (147cm x 63.5cm x 71cm).
