A WWII medal group awarded to Sir Maurice Oldfield G.C.M.G., C.B.E., the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George, Knights Grand Cross, Star and gilt sash badge in original Spink & Son Ltd fitted case, the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Commanders neck badge, C.B.E, WWII group of four medals in original postage box to 'M Oldfield Esq' and corresponding miniature medal group of six. Sir Maurice Oldfield G.C.M.G., C.B.E. , (16 November 1915 – 11 March 1981) was a British intelligence officer and espionage administrator. After graduating from Manchester University and on the outbreak of WWII he enlisted with the South Staffordshire Regiment, later transferring to the Intelligence Corps. After the war he joined the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), working in London, Singapore and Washington. Oldfield was the seventh director of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) from 1973 to 1978.

It is rumoured that Oldfield was the inspiration behind the author, John le Carre's fictional character George Smiley.
