Lot Description

A foil-back diamond and foil-back multi-gem bird brooch. The brooch designed as a bird of paradise, set throughout with vari-shape foil-back ruby and foil-back emerald with foil-back rose-cut diamond highlights, astride a similarly-set stylised floral and foliate detail. Length 6.3cms. Weight 26.9gms.

<li> Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. <p>

<li> The reverse shows evidence of soft solder repairs and alterations. <p>

<li> Vacant suspension loops for drops, to the floral and foliate detail. <p>

<li> Rubies light medium and dark pinkish and purplish-reds, lightly to well saturated, with most showing fair clarity and typical inclusions, some of which can be seen easily with the naked eye, some have more profuse light coloured inclusions which somewhat affect the passage of light through the stone.<p>

<li> Emeralds medium to fairly dark green, well to fairly well saturated, with fair clarity and typical inclusions.<p>

<li> Cut and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents total carat weight estimation. <p>

<li> Diamonds well matched. <p>

<li> Diamonds bright.<p>

<li> Diamonds mostly fair in clarity with some small light and dark coloured inclusions. <p>

<li> Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.<p>

<li> Stones in good condition with minor abrasions.<p>
