Lot Description

An Arts & Crafts bowl and cover, of bulging circular form decorated with rope-twist borders plus bands of foliate scrollwork detailed with perched and flying birds upon a planished surface to the whole. Incised 'H R Fowler, 1910' beneath, possibly made for the Artificers Guild, London (1901-42). Diameter at base measures 4 inches (10 cm).  

The Artificers Guild were founded in 1901 by Nelson Dawson and were a London based manufacturer of metalwork, silver and jewellery in the Arts & Crafts style.
