Lot Description

An early Victorian silver teapot of compressed melon form, the panel sides engraved with scrolling foliage and vacant cartouche, having a leaf capped handle and an applied foliate and scroll formed finial to the circular hinged lid, the whole raised above a conforming shape foot. Hallmarked Charles Thomas Fox & George Fox, London 1845. Maximum length measures 10 1/4 inches (26 cm), gross weight 23.41 ozt (728 grams).

The teapot appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general wear and tarnishing throughout. Also general surface marks and scratches and some surface dints and bumps. Residues of polish. Foot appears slightly compressed on one side. Hinged lid in good working order. Some damage and losses to ivory insulators. The hallmarks are clear and legible, also clear corresponding hallmarks to removable parts.
