Lot Description
A William IV silver-gilt letter opener, the blade engraved with a bouquet of flowers above a shell motif, and the ivory handle between foliate embossed mounts. Hallmarked William Theobalds & Lockington Bunn, London 1835. Length measuring 9 5/8 inches (24.5 cm).

Condition Report
The letter opener displays general wear and tarnishing and areas of the gilding are quite worn and faded. Also general surface marks and scratches and some heavier wear to the edges around the tip of the blade. The applied finial is a little loose and there are some splits in the metal. The hallmarks are clear and legible, the embossed handle mounts appear unmarked.
