A George III silver basting spoon by Hester Bateman, in Old English pattern with feather edge. Hallmarked London 1774. Length measures 11 3/4 inches (30 cm), weight 3.39 ozt (105.7 grams).

The spoon appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying general wear, surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. Light tarnishing. Some pitting and heavier marks to bowl but it has generally faired well. Hallmarks are located towards the base of the stem, some minor distortion but still clearly legible.
