Lot Description
A late Victorian silver hip flask, the plain slightly curved form with engraved crest and motto 'In Sublime', above a removable silver cup further engraved with a monogram above the date '1st Jan 1900', with bayonet locking mechanism and bulbous hinged lid. Hallmarked Deakin & Francis Ltd., Birmingham 1899. Height measures 5 1/8 inches (13 cm).

Condition Report
The hip flask displays general wear, tarnishing, surface marks and scratches in keeping with the age and use. Visible dint just above the crest to one side and a few smaller dints mainly around the base of the cup. Seam lines are visible. Contact marks around the base of the flask, from the action of removing the cup on and off. The interior of the cup is gilded. The bayonet closing mechanism appears in good working order. Hallmarked to various parts, some rubbing but mostly legible.
