A mid-Victorian silver Bosun whistle, having foliate and thistle engraving to the keel and crowned anchors to either end of the barrel. Hallmarked Hilliard & Thomason, Birmingham 1862. Length measures 5 1/2 inches (14 cm), gross weight 18 grams.

Condition Report
The whistle displays general wear and tarnishing in keeping with the age and use. Surface marks and scratches and a some minor surface dints/bumps. Seam line visible to the barrel and an area of heavier scratched or filed marks. Residues of sticker to vacant cartouche. Hallmarks are a little rubbed but still clearly legible. Also some scratched numbers above the maker's mark.
