Lot Description
An early twentieth century silver mounted box of lobed outline and raised on four ball feet, the hinged cover with presentation engraving and opening to reveal a velvet lined interior displaying a silver key with scroll pierced decoration. Box hallmarked Robert Pringle & Sons, London 1911, the key hallmarked Birmingham 1912. Maximum length of box measures 4 inches (10 cm).
'Presented July 18. 1912. To Colonel F. S. Bowring. C.B.R.E. On the occasion of his turning on the water into the second reservoir Letchworth (Garden City) Hertfordshire.'

Condition Report
The box displays some general wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. General surface marks and scratches and a couple of minor dints. Hinged lid appears in good working order. The reverse of the lid displays a yellowish tarnish. Some rubbing to hallmarks but still clearly legible. The key appears in fairly good overall condition and hallmarks are legible. No maker's mark.
