Lot Description

A cowrie shell mounted sauce boat, possibly nineteenth century, having a foliate capped handle and ribbed banding over the shell bowl and the whole raised upon three stepped and ball feet. Length measures 5 4/8 inches (14 cm).

The sauce boat is in fair condition although with distortion to legs. The shell has a few minor scratches and marks to interior and the mount has general light rubbing. The mount is unmarked.
