Lot Description
A pair of William IV silver-gilt three-light candelabra by Joseph Craddock, the intricate cast columns decorated in high relief and centrally formed as an eagle encompassing a lion's pelt, bordered by profuse foliage and scrolls and rising to the detachable tri-form arms modelled as scrolling leaf capped branches each with urn capitals conforming in decoration, further drip pans with the underside modelled as an eagle with out-stretched wings, central flame finial and the whole raised on an asymmetrical circular base edged with scroll edge and embellished in high relief finely detailed with fantastical sea creatures and further lion's mask and pelt. Hallmarked Joseph Craddock, London 1831. Height approximately 19 3/4 inches (50 cm), gross weight 327.5 ozt (10187 grams).

Condition Report
In very good overall condition. Displaying general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. There does appear to be a small area of repair to one of the candlesticks, small hole still present. The candlestick part (not the branches) do appear to have been re-gilded at some point and display a slightly brighter colour and less tarnished. Hallmarks clear and legible. Part hallmarks present, rubbed a little in part in high contact. Date letter completely worn to one of the detachable cross branches - drip pans with part hallmarks, nozzles unmarked.
