Lot Description

An Edwardian silver pierced basket, the shaped oval form with applied floral scroll rim above oval pierced and foliate embossed sides, having an engraved family crest and motto to the centre and the whole raised on an openwork foot of C scrolls and flowers. Hallmarked William Comyns & Sons, London 1901. Maximum length measures 11 3/8 inches (29 cm), weight 17.13 ozt (533 grams).

The dish appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some expected general wear and tarnishing. General surface marks, scratches and also some pin prick or pitting marks to the plain centre. A couple of minor dints. The motto reads 'OFNA DDUW'. The hallmarks are located to the underside and are clear and legible.
